Pulsing Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy
PEMF Therapy target tissues to help reduce pain and inflammation and accelerate healing. Dogs and cats can find relief from common conditions such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, muscle, tendon or ligament injuries, fractures, neurological conditions and stiffness and soreness associated with age.
PEMF has the unique ability to pass through fur, skin, bandages and bone. The depth of field of Respond Systems Bio-Pulse PEMF Therapy System can penetrate through the entire body of a dog lying on the bed reaching deep into the joints and muscles stimulating circulation and healing. All living beings are in essence an electrical system.
The treatment cannot be felt but the effect is noticeable and many times your pet will relax on the bed or even fall asleep. Typically, you will see results within two weeks and many times you will notice an immediate difference in the way your pet rises, walks and runs.
PEMF technology is a fascinating science which utilizes the body’s ability to recognize electromagnetic energy in order to stimulate healing. The energy signature produced by the PEMF device stimulates the production of nitric oxide, which through a cascade of events promotes the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis). When blood flow is improved to an area of injury, the result is reduced pain and inflammation as well as increased speed of tissue healing.
We use the Assisi loops, loop lounge and Response Systems bed as a targeted therapy for animals with pain due to orthopedic diseases as well as spinal and neurologic pain. PEMF has also been successfully used in patients with neurologic impairments due to spinal compression and to help relieve the pain associated with intervertebral disc disease. The PEMF device is small and portable which makes it ideal to be used daily in a home setting.
PEMF is used to treat a wide range of conditions affecting small animals and is widely received not only because of its efficacy, but also for the extreme ease of delivery. Respond Systems’ PEMF products are designed for the patient to either lay on. Time and time again animals seek out the PEMF beds and have a tendency to nod off as their circulation increases and their pain and inflammation decrease.
PEMF has been used for decades to treat a variety of conditions and is non-pharmaceutical and has no side effects.
Basic treatment protocols are provided with each of our PEMF systems but you will find that treatments vary based on factors such as:
- Age of Animal
- Fitness/Health Level including other conditions, medications, stress level, diet, weight and more
- Age of Injury
- Daily Routine
- External factors including travel, competition and stressors
Dogs recovering from cruciate surgery may respond best to a 30-minute PEMF Bed treatment whereas an older dog recovering from the same surgery but with chronic arthritis in the hips may find the using the PEMF Bed for one-hour works most efficiently for pain and movement.
PEMF can help reduce inflammation and pain in addition to accelerate healing.
